Catarina (1985, Lisbon) graduated in Communication Design from Faculdade de Belas Artes de Lisboa and started working as an independent designer from early on. Her work encompasses different mediums and contexts, switching smoothly between print and screen based media. Driven by curiosity, she’s always looking for a fresh perspective on things. Poetic too. She enjoys collecting colors, shapes, and ideas to compose her personal visual archives which she after uses in her work.
Currently she happily lives and works in Cascais, where she owns the gallery and design studio This Must Be The Place.

Catarina has been working with Sam Baron, her mentor and flesh-and-blood alter ego, since 2008, first in Fabrica’s Design Studio (Treviso, Italy) and then in Lisbon. After spending a year in NYC at Karlssonwilker Inc., in 2011 she returned to her hometown to set up Studio AH HA, which lasted until 2018. In 2020, she started her own project, This Must Be the Place, a studio but also a design gallery. Although it’s probably her wildest adventure so far, it’s also where she feels at home.
